An Uninterruptible Power Supply is generally used to protect a critical load from mains supply problems, including spikes, voltage dips, fluctuations and complete power failures. A UPS system can also be used to ‘bridge the gap’ whilst a standby generator is started and synchronised. This prevents data loss or interruption to the load even during a 20-30 second run-up time.
